Once a month, on the third Thursday, the Fayette American Legion Auxiliary opens its doors for a warm and welcoming event: the Coffee Café.

Held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., the gathering invites members of the public to stop in for free coffee, tea, water, or hot chocolate, along with light snacks and good company.

The event takes place at the Fayette Legion, located at 422 South Fayette Street, and was launched in January of this year in response to a simple but heartfelt need: a place in town to enjoy coffee and conversation. With no traditional coffee shop in Fayette, the Auxiliary stepped in to fill the gap.

“A lot of the people who come are veterans,” said Connie Wagner, President of the Fayette Legion Auxiliary. “It’s nice getting to know people in the community.”

While it began quietly, the café has started to build momentum, with regular guests returning each month and word continuing to spread. Organizers hope more residents will take advantage of the opportunity to connect with neighbors in a friendly, relaxed setting.

Whether you’re a coffee drinker or just looking for a place to socialize, all are welcome at the Fayette Legion Auxiliary Coffee Café.
