Ryder Sommers, 21, of Fayette stood in front of Williams County Common Pleas Court Judge JT Stelzer on Thursday, August 24, to hear his sentencing for sex offenses related involving two minors between the ages of 14 and 16 years old. Sommers will spend 180 days at CCNO as a result of the charges.

Sommers, who was formerly a competitive cheer coach with Northwest Ohio Elite Athletics of Montpelier as well as with Head Over Heels Gymnastics Academy in Bryan, entered guilty pleas to three counts of sexual battery, each third degree felonies, and one count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a fourth degree felony, on July 10. Sommers had been the coach of the girls involved.

Judge Stelzer sentenced Sommers to Community Control Sanctions of 5 years’ incarceration, with 180 days to be served at CCNO. Sommers is also prohibited from being in a leadership position of anyone under the age of 18, may not be unsupervised with anyone under the age of 18 in person or via social media, and may not have any contact with the victims. He is also required to pay a $5000 fine and serve 250 hours of community service. Additionally, Sommers will be required to register as a tier three and a tier two sex offender, which will require him to report where he lives, works, or attends school every 90 days.
