The Wauseon Fire Department held a formal badge pinning ceremony Monday evening, April 6, just prior to the regular Wauseon City Council meeting, honoring Firefighter and EMT Hannah Wilson as she officially entered her full-time role through a lateral transfer.
Family members, city officials, and fellow firefighters gathered at city hall for the ceremony, which served as a public recognition of Wilson’s new position and the commitment that comes with serving in the fire service.
The event also reflected the traditions the department has worked to restore and formalize in recent years as Wauseon has continued its transition from its longtime volunteer roots into a full-time staffing model.
Wilson’s ceremony carried a deeply personal touch as her father took part in the occasion, adding even greater meaning to the moment and underscoring the family support that stands behind those who choose a career in fire and emergency medical service.
The ceremony marked an important milestone not only for Wilson, but also for the department and the community it serves, highlighting the dedication, sacrifice, and pride tied to the profession.
By holding the ceremony in a public setting before council, the department gave residents and local officials an opportunity to witness a significant moment in one of its members’ careers while reinforcing the close connection between the fire department and the community it protects.
Wilson now steps into her full-time position with the department, marking the beginning of a new chapter in her service to Wauseon.
