Edon Branch Library’s summer reading program based on the overall theme of “Fizz, Boom, Read” will begin Wednesday, June 11th and end on Friday, July 11th. Testing shows that kids who read for fun in the summer do better and forget less when they go back to school. The summer months offer great opportunities for families to help improve reading and writing. One of the ways parents can do this is by bringing their children to the library for the summer reading program.

Summer reading will kick off at the library on June 11th starting with an Electricity themed story time at 11:30 am. Later in the day, at 1:00 pm, Northwest Electric will present a hair-raising program for all ages!

Wednesdays, June 18th and June 25th are packed with interesting programs. There will be story times held at 11:30 am. The theme for the 18th will be Music/Noise. The 25th will be all about Magic & Experiments. On these Wednesdays, you can also get crafty and take part in fun activities from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.

Fridays will be set aside for Movie Time at the Library on June 13, 20, 27, and July 11 at 3:00 pm.

The Closing Party will be held on July 9th at 1:00 pm. “Bubble Mania” will be the theme. Enjoy games and snacks outdoors and possibly win a prize! Each child who attends will receive a book, for taking part in this year’s summer reading.

Edon Branch Library is located at 105 S. Michigan Street. For more information about the programs, please call library manager Cyndi Jewell at 419-272-2839.
