(PRESS RELEASE) In partnership with the Fulton County Board of Developmental Disabilities, the Fulton County Fair opens this year with the addition of a Universal Changing Table.
There are many individuals living with disabilities and medical conditions who do not have access to a safe, private and dignified place to utilize the restroom in their community.
In pursuit of a truly accessible and inclusive society, it is crucial that public facilities provide a safe space for just this.
Without hesitation, when reaching out to Ron Rice, Fulton County Fair Board President, to inquire if there would be space to install a Universal Changing Table, the Fulton County Board of Developmental Disabilities was greeted with enthusiasm and kindness.
The Fulton County Fair went out of their way to brainstorm on a location that would work at the Fairgrounds and made every step of the journey to have a Universal Changing table installed a breeze.
The Fulton County Board of Developmental Disabilities received grant funding through The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) in early 2024 to purchase and install the Universal Changing Table.
The Universal Changing Table is located at the Biddle building across from the new hog barn. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 to celebrate this event as making our community inclusive has always been a high priority for Fulton County.
