The Fulton County Commissioners returned to their session room in Wauseon on the morning of July 29, 2025, for a brief but efficient meeting, addressing several financial housekeeping items and approving new contracts for road materials needed later this year.
After starting the meeting with the usual formalities, including roll call, the Pledge of Allegiance, and a prayer, the board approved the minutes from their July 24 session and accepted the day’s agenda as presented.
Only two commissioners were present for the meeting: Jeff Rupp and Jon Rupp. Commissioner Joe Short was absent.
One of the first orders of business was to approve the latest round of county bill payments through Resolution 2025-495. That was followed by a budget transfer to help cover a repair bill that caught the county off guard.
Through Resolution 2025-496, the board moved $6,500 from the commissioners’ equipment fund into maintenance and repair services.
Administrative Services Coordinator Amanda Mahlman noted that more bills were expected and there wasn’t enough left in the maintenance line to cover them. County Administrator Dennis Kennedy approved the transfer ahead of the meeting.
Next, commissioners turned their attention to roadwork. With the county’s summer construction season well underway, they approved new contracts for aggregate construction materials that will be used during the second half of the year.
County Engineer Frank Onweller recommended accepting bids from three vendors: Custar Stone Co., Fulton Mill Services, and Cris Johnson Trucking. The decision was formalized through Resolution 2025-497.
Onweller noted that the actual supplier for each job will be chosen based on several factors, including price, quality, availability, and proximity to the job site.
Before wrapping up, the board also passed Resolution 2025-498, giving the go-ahead for a batch of routine purchase orders and travel requests. These allow departments to buy supplies or send employees to training courses and meetings.
As the session ended, the commissioners noted a couple of upcoming dates. A county-wide new employee orientation is scheduled for August 8th, and a public hearing on the Ritter Station Solar Project will be held on August 13 at 6:00 p.m. at Fayette Local Schools.
With no other business on the table, the commissioners adjourned the meeting just a few minutes after 9:00 a.m.
