Gabriel Michael Paul Mendez, 40, of Ney, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.
He was born on October 10, 1977 to David Mendez and Pamela (Clark) Barrera in Defiance. Gabriel was a member of the Eagles in Bryan. He worked as a Tattoo Artist, and was a musician in a band that often played at Father John’s in Bryan, and various other places in the area.
Gabriel was a flow artist, jewelry maker, and entertainer. He was very passionate about his music, he loved his art, and he saw beauty in everything. Gabriel will be sadly missed by his family and many good friends.
Gabriel is survived by his father, David (Connie) Mendez of Ney, mother, Pamela (Juan) Barrera of Bryan, brothers, Dave Mendez of Bryan, Quinlan (Britt) Mendez of Bryan, Benjamin (Becca) Mendez of Antwerp, Michael Kelly of Ney, Joshua Barrera of Bryan, and Johny (Teresa) Stantz of Bryan, sisters, Kara (Brice) Densmore of Huntertown, IN, Janie Kelly of Ney, and Ruby Cook of Hicksville, sons, Gabriel Mendez of Bryan, and Dru Mendez of Springfield, OH, daughter, Kayliegh Mendez-Snyder of Port Clinton, special friend, Rachel Kerr, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rev. Joseph (Andrea) Mendez, Johnie Clark, Sr., and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 2-8 pm on Friday, March 9, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 10th at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Rev. Isaac Shelton officiating.
Burial will follow the service at Ney Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at The AMVETS Hall in Bryan.
