Herbert W. Hicks Jr., 70, of rural Fayette, died Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at his home. He was born April 8, 1946, in Toledo, OH, to the late Herbert and Viola (Blasingame) Hicks. He married Judith E. Mayberry on July 2, 1985, in Wauseon, OH, and she survives.
Herbert grew up in Toledo and graduated from Whitmer High School Class of 1964. He proudly served our country as a member of the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he began employment with Chrysler-Jeep in Toledo, where he served as a maintenance supervisor for over 30 years. He enjoyed computers and fishing at his beloved Harrison Lake, where he lived.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Judi, are their four children, Patrick Krieger of Wauseon, Kimmi (Brandon) Floro of Toledo, Raymond (Tanya) Braden of Mechanicsville, VA, and Kalyn (Wade) Taylor of Perrysburg, OH; a sister, Kathy (James) Schudel of Swanton, OH; sixteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Keisser.
Cremation has taken place and private family services are being planned at the Marzolf Shelter at Harrison Lake. The Hicks family is being served by the Eagle Funeral Home in Fayette.
