BOYS BASKETBALL

Varsity

Pettisville 44 Stryker 36

PETTISVILLE – Trailing 33-30 going the final quarter, the Blackbirds went 10/17 at the foul line and outscored Stryker 14-3 in the quarter to get their first win of the season.

Cayden Jacoby led Pettisville (1-2) with a 20 points and eight rebounds while Levi Barnum had 12 and Teyvon Harris added 11 to pace Stryker (0-2).

Archbold 71 Edgerton 51

ARCHBOLD – After a slow start, the Bluestreaks outscored Edgerton 45-20 in the second and third quarters combined on their way to a 71-51 win in their season opener. Alex Roth topped Archbold with 18 points after being held scoreless in the first quarter and DJ Newman tallied 14.

Edgerton’s (0-2) offense was led by 17 from Nathan Swank, Corey Everetts had 14, and Cory Herman added 10.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Varsity

Montpelier 41 North Central 35

PIONEER – Montpelier was 0/3 at the foul line in the fourth quarter but were able to hold on for a 41-35 win at North Central.

The Locos led 35-23 after three quarters before the Eagle’s Madison Brown scored eight of her game-high 17 points to narrow the final margin. Kendal Bonney added 11 points for North Central.

Ariel Page knocked down eight baskets for Montpelier (4-0) to end the night with 16.

Little Lights

Swanton 48 Evergreen 36

METAMORA – Swanton used a 30-21 second half to pull away for 48-36 nonconference win over Evergreen. Frankie Nelson helped Swanton close out the game by going 4/6 in the fourth quarter at the line and registered 19 pints on the night.

Bekah Bowser led three Lady Vikings in double digits with 11 while Lucy Serna and Addison Ricker had 10 points each.

Bryan 55 Paulding 43

Barber Kaper Stamm McWatters Law Office

BRYAN – The Lady Bears rallied from a 26-23 halftime deficit and outscored Paulding 32-17 in the second half to pull out a 55-43 win. Kailee Thiel had five buckets and six free throws for 16 points and Delilah Taylor added 14 for Bryan (4-1).

Ayersville 49 Edon 23

DEFIANCE – Kaylee Dockery had 17 to help Ayersville move to 4-0 with a 49-23 triumph over Edon. Carlie Kiess paced Edon (0-5) with two triples and a pair of two-point field goals for 10 points.
