High School Golf Roundup For August 19th, 2021

BOYS GOLF

Swanton 163 Elmwood 195

Mazin Rukieh’s round of 37 and Garrett Swank’s 39 led the Bulldogs to the win over Elmwood at Valleywood Golf Course. The Bulldogs total was rounded out by Ryan O’Shea with a 43 and Lucas Bloom added a 44.

Archbold 156 Stryker 190

All six Archbold golfers broke 50 led by Luke Rosebrook and Cahle Roth who were co-medalists with a 34 in their win over Stryker at Riverside Greens. Cade Miller added a 42 for Archbold and River Ryan fired a 46. The Panthers effort was led by Daniel Donovan with a 45 followed by Gavin LaBo (46), Angela Soellner (47), and Michael Donovan (52).

Wauseon 166 Montpelier 166 (Montpelier wins on 5th man score tiebreaker)

On the strength of a 5thman score of 47 by Cooper Clark, Montpelier was able to get the win over Wauseon at Suburban Golf Course. Aidan Higbie topped the Locos with a 39, Trent Thorp added a 41, Jaxson Richmond had a 42, and Easten Richmond chipped in with a 44. Wauseon was paced by medalist Andy Scherer with a 37 followed by Jackson Gleckler (41), Zach Puehler (43), and Mykale Schneider (45).

Bryan 146 North Central 174

Noah Huard shot a blistering 33 to pace Bryan, who had four golfers with rounds in the 30s, in a dual match win over North Central at Riverside Greens. Drew Dauber was close behind Huard with a 36, Nathan Hess tallied a 38, and Colin Shirkey recorded a 39 for the Golden Bears.

Antwerp 163 Edon 289

The Archers got a 38 from Gaige McMichael and a 39 by Braylen Moreno as they rolled past Edon at Pond-A-River Golf Course. Thomas Wehrenberg had the low socre for Edon with a 58, Hope Siebenaler added a 76, Skylar Osborn had a 77, and Dylan Buck tallied a 78.

Hilltop 175 Edgerton 183 Evergreen 203 Fayette DNF

Jamie Chester led Hilltop with a 41 as the Cadets finished first in a quad match at Patriot Hills Golf Course. Ella Calvin and Averie Johnston were next for Hilltop with a 44 each and Elijah Kuszmaul had a 47. Edgerton placed second paced by match medalist Esten Kennerk with a 40, Kaden Kennerk shot a 42, Nate Swank carded a 47, and Caden Leppelmeier recorded a 54.

Evergreen grabbed the third spot as Brandon Cobb came home with a 45, Trayte Dixon had a 48, Chloe Creque fired a 53, and Adam Schmidt had a 57. Fayette, who didn’t have enough players for a team score, got a 43 from Owen Lemley, a 45 by Wyatt Mitchell, and Nevaeh Powers scored a 59.

GIRLS GOLF

Perrysburg 177 Wauseon 186

Halle Frank’s 43 led Wauseon as they fell to a solid Perrysburg team 177-186. Calaway Gerken was next on the score sheet for the Indians with a 44, Jordan King shot a 47, and Ashley Fisher carded a 52. Sydney Deal of Perrysburg was medalist with a 34.

Archbold 194 Montpelier 217

Brayton Huffman set a new girl’s school record for nine holes with an even par 36 to lead Archbold past Montpelier at Suburban Golf Course. Archbold’s team score of 194 was also a nine-hole school record. Carly Grime posted a 46 while Alli Bickel and Aniyah Copeland both shot a 56 for the Bluestreaks.

Kinsey Word was low score for Montpelier with a 42, Mandy Taylor had a 55, Bobbie Kreisher shot a 59, and Taylor Bard registered a 61.
