(PRESS RELEASE) SWANTON – The Swanton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle double fatal crash that occurred on November 23, 2024 just after midnight. The crash occurred on the Ohio Turnpike at milepost 26 eastbound in Franklin Township, Fulton County.
Ronald Dempsey, age 46, of Savannah, Georgia was driving a 2007 Freightliner Columbia semi eastbound on I-80. Jean Moise, age 45, of Miami, Florida was driving a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia semi westbound on I-80 with a passenger, Wilson Jeune, age 59, of Indianapolis, Indiana. Mr. Moise crossed the median and struck Mr. Dempsey head on. Both semis traveled off the south side of I-80.
Mr. Jeune was pronounced deceased on scene. Mr. Dempsey was transported by Mercy Health Life Flight to The University of Toledo Medical center where he was pronounced deceased. Mr. Moise was not injured in the crash.
The Patrol was assisted on scene by Fulton County Fire Department, Fulton County EMS, the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission, and Bubba’s Towing.
The eastbound lanes of the Ohio Turnpike were closed for approximately five hours, one lane is now open. The crash remains under investigation.
