(October 16th, 2014)-ANTWERP: The Cadets went down fighting, completely surrounded by Archers.

With a packed crowd cheering for their hometown Antwerp squad, the girls of Hilltop had more than the other six girls on the court with which to contend. As such, the match against the Archers was a difficult challenge for the Lady Cadets. Even still, Hilltop gave it their all, battling valiantly in a foreign environment against a strong opponent.

Game 1 provided a slow start for the Lady Cadets, who were defeated 14-25 in the set. Despite a redoubled effort, they lost game 2 by that same score, 14-25. The fourth set saw Hilltop refuse to lose however, and they took the set 25-23. They couldn’t complete the comeback, though. The Archers pulled away late in game 4, taking the set and the match 25-17. As a silver lining to the loss, every girl on that Cadet team will be back to play next year, as there were no seniors playing for Hilltop this season.

Ariana Brown stood out for the Cadets with 8 kills, 7 digs, and 2 blocks. Felicity Jackson gave her team a boost with 11 assists, 4 kills, 3 digs, and an ace. Teammate Allie Schmitt gave the team an impressive 21 digs on the night as well.
