Hortencia C. Jaramillo, our beloved sister, aunt, great-aunt, great-great aunt and great-great-great aunt, left her earthly home surrounded by her family, to walk the streets of gold on September 16, 2022.  She was 80 years old.

Born February 24, 1942 in Edinburg, Texas, she was the first born of Melecio and Trinidad (Cadena) Jaramillo.

At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and wanted to express her Faith and was Baptized.

She was employed at LaChoy/ConAgra in Archbold, Ohio from 1966 until she retired in 2006.

Known as “Tencha” to her family and all her friends, she leaves a huge void in her family’s life. Her delight was to love on her family and was one to stay with so little and to give so much. Tencha was a lifetime member of Templo Cristiano Assembly of God.

In later years, due to some health issues, she lost her driving privileges and was very grateful to her family when they assisted in transporting her to activities and appointments.

She disliked the silly rule of not wearing white after Labor Day because white was her favorite color all year round. So, in memory of her, family and friends are encouraged to wear white.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 infant brothers; an infant sister; her infant son; sister-in-law, Gloria Jaramillo; and two brothers-in-law, Eloy Perez and Ralph Leija.

Left behind to carry on her legacy are three sisters and two brothers, Irma Perez, Noemi, Leija, Alberto Jaramillo, Isaias (Imelda) Jaramillo and Elizabeth (Ron) Nafziger; 28 nephews and nieces; 42 great nephews and nieces; 20 great-great nephews and nieces; and 1 great-great-great-niece.

The family will receive guests on Friday, September 23, from 11 AM – 3 PM at Short Funeral Home in Archbold, with a graveside service to follow at 3:30 PM in the Pettisville Cemetery.

The family requests that memorials be given to CHP Home Care and Hospice or the organization of your choice.
