Howard (Mike) D. Dennis, Jr. of Wauseon, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, January 26, 2021, in his home on the farm. Howard was born September 11, 1929 in Franklin Township, Ohio , to Howard D. and Bertha (Bernath) Dennis. Howard married Barabara J. Newcomer in Bryan, Ohio on September 5, 1959.
He was a farmer all his life and believed in “hard” work. Howard raised and packaged potatoes for the fresh market until the early 2000’s. Throughout the years he also raised tomatoes, oats, wheat, corn and soybeans. He milked cows until in the 60’s. Howard enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida 25 miles from the nearest store.
Howard was a 60 year member of the Wauseon Masonic Lodge.
Howard is survived by his wife; sons, Timothy (Suzanne) Dennis, William Dennis, both of Wauseon, and John (Susan) Dennis of Fayette. He is also survived by a sister, Patricia Dennis Irwin; and three grandchildren, Kirsten, Christian and Jacob Dennis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Shirley Dennis and Helen Cameron.
Visitation for Howard will be held Friday, January 29, 2021 at Short Funeral Home, Archbold. Burial will be in the Tedrow Cemetery. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, visitation and burial will be private.
Memorials may be made to Community Health Professionals Hospice, Archbold or a charity of the donor’s choice.
