Immo Paul Fischer, age 79, of Lyons, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home, with his family at his bedside, Monday afternoon, April 17, 2023.

He was born November 9, 1943 in Dabel Germany to Hans H. and Gertrude (Warkentin) Fischer. He was an immigrant of Germany, but always considered himself an American and nothing else.

Immo enlisted in the United States Army and served his tour of duty in Germany in the Recon Tank Division from March 14, 1961 to March 7, 1964. He achieved sharp shooter with the M1 rifle and expert in the 45 pistol and 45 SMG..

He married his beloved wife, Sandra Sue Frick on May 30, 1964. Immo worked for Tecumseh Products and Toledo Steel Tube, and was an avid gardener.

He was known for his gigantic garden full of all different varieties of vegetables, but mostly his prize golden nugget sweet corn and hundreds of tomato plants. He would give away his bountiful harvest to family, friends and neighbors.

He cherished his friendship with Harlan Barden “Fuzzy” and Earl Burgess who were his tenant farmers.  Immo enjoyed hunting and shooting and was a huge history buff.

He loved reading about history and visiting historic sites. Immo was a devoted family man, and as the boys were growing up, he coached little league baseball.

Immo will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 59 years, Sandra; sons, Michael (Kathleen Eisel) Fischer, Joe (Mary Jo Kreuz) Fischer and Steve Fischer; grandchildren, Josh (Jade Lautenschlager) Fischer, Matthew Fischer, Michael (Taylor Kashmer) Fischer, Collin Fischer, Jacob Hassen and Drew Hassen; great-grandchildren, Koen, Kade and Krew Fischer; sister, Gesine “Gus” Czerniak; sister-in-law, Deborah (Norman) Krause; nieces, Laura (Tim) Knapik and Amy Czerniak; and nephews, Dale (Marla Homan) Krause and Norman Krause.
