She was born on November 17, 1961 to August and Florine (Davis) Vinaske in Adrian, Michigan.
She was a graduate of Hudson High, Class of 1980 then went to Jackson Community College receiving her LPN first then worked towards becoming an RN.
Throughout the years she worked at the former Foote Hospital in Jackson and she taught STNA classes at Jackson Career Center.
The majority of her career as an RN was spent in Michigan and Ohio at various long-term care facilities.
Melissa was an avid college football and basketball fan and she loved the Detroit Tigers!
She also enjoyed crocheting dishcloths. Melissa’s family will remember her talent for baking cut-out Christmas cookies every year, also for her peanut brittle, hard candy, caramels and her spunk!
She is survived by her sister, Kristy (Bob) Wyse; nephews, Ryan (Whitney) Wyse and Jarrid (Jess) Wyse; great-nieces, Hailey, Emma, Laila and great-nephew, Isaac and various aunts and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tim Barland and niece, Betsy Wyse-Zanin.
At Melissa’s request, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life in Wauseon Union Cemetery will be announced at a later date, where she and her husband will have their final resting place. Details will be shared when available.
Since Melissa was a huge animal lover, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Fulton County Humane Society or the family c/o Kristy A. Wyse.
