Jeanette E. DeWitt

Jeanette-E-DeWitt-WEBJeanette E. DeWitt, age 76, of Stryker, died at Heartland of Wauseon on Monday, November 30, 2015, from complications suffering a recent massive stroke. Mrs. DeWitt was an LPN as an SPD supervisor at the Fulton County Health Center in Wauseon for 17 years and continued to care for patients staffing home services for A to Z Healthcare until her retirement. She was a member of the Bryan Church of the Nazarene.

Jeanette was born on March 23, 1939 in Deerfield, MI to Dorothea L. (Cook) and Arland E. Lidster. Dorothea died when Jeanette was a child of nine years. She was blessed by her father’s remarriage to gain Thelma Rickard as a mother, who preceded her in death. Jeanette married Richard E. DeWitt on December 23, 1959, and he preceded her in death in 1998.

She is survived by two daughters, Roxanne Turney of Montpelier, and Mrs. Anthony (Rita) Saunders of Stryker; a foster son, Arland Meyer of Napoleon, and a foster daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Linda) Younce of Marydale, MD; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother Cloyce (and his wife, Elaine) Lidster of Dalhart, TX; one sister, Joyce McNeil of Bellaire, MI; and two brothers-in-law, Donald Baker of Clinton, MI and James Meyer of Tucson, AZ. She was preceded in death, in addition to her husband, by her parents, and two sisters, Dorothy Florine Baker and Beth Sharon Meyer.

Visitation for Jeanette will be held from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the Bryan Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Roger Blough, officiating. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Stryker.


The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Missionary Society of the Church of the Nazarene. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.grisierfh.com.
