The Jefferson Township Board of Trustees approved an additional $17,000 for fire contracts during its Monday, Aug. 17, 2026, meeting.
Fiscal Officer Linda Beck presented an appropriation increasing the township’s Fire Levy Fund by $17,000.
The additional money brought the total amount appropriated for contract fire services to $79,000. The township’s fire coverage comes primarily from the Montpelier Fire Department.
Trustees also received an update on the Selwyn Drive project. Trustee Brian Batterson reported that an information meeting will be held at the Williams County Engineer’s Office on Aug. 25, 2026, at 8 p.m. The meeting will review the project’s basic plans.
The township also continued looking into drainage improvements near County Road M and County Road 16. Trustee Austin Poynter is currently waiting on a quote for the project.
Trustees then paid warrants and vouchers and approved the fund status.
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m. The next Jefferson Township meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, at 7 p.m.
