Jim A. Sponsler, 76, of Montpelier and formerly of Paulding, Ohio and Louisville, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday evening at his home. He was born in Paulding County to Joseph M. and Bertha A. (Boff) Sponsler. He graduated from Oakwood High School in 1957. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves.
Jim retired from UPS in Louisville after 35 years. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, the Living Rosary Association of St. Philomena, and the Montpelier Moose.
He is survived by one sister, Kate (Dave) Densmore of Melrose, Ohio; one half-brother Roger (Roz) Simonis of Waterbury, Connecticut; twelve nieces and nephews and numerous great and great great nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Johnny Sponsler, Howard Sponsler, Paul Sponsler, Jerry Burris, Rita Leininger, and nephew Rick Densmore.
Visitation for Jim will be on Friday, July 15th from 2-8pm at the Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier, with a 7:30pm Rosary Service. Funeral services will be on Saturday at 10am at St. Isidore Catholic Church Marysdale with Father Robert Kill to officiate. Interment will follow at Marysdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ohio Right to Life or to Masses.
