WAUSEON-The Wauseon lady Indians took control of the match-up against the lady Locomotives early on, and never looked back as the Tribe would cruise to a 59-31 win Friday night.

The Indians jumped out to a 15-6 lead at the end of the first quarter of action, following the lead of their top scorer Natalie Koenig, who would end up with 18 points on the night. The second quarter of play saw the Loco’s score ten points, but yet the Indian lead would still grow to 33-16 going in to halftime.

Montpelier’s Hannah Blake did all she could to try and get the Locos back in to the game, scoring 12 points on the night, but Montpelier was only able to make 11 out of the 46 field goals they attempted for a shooting percentage of only 23 percent on the night. Add on to that the fact that the Locos free throw percentage was also under 40 percent, and it is difficult to mount any kind of come back.

The Tribe would hold on to their lead, even after the reserves came in to play for much of the final quarter, and go on to win the contest by a final score of 59-31

Scoring for the Locomotives was Hannah Blake with 12, Regan Steffes, Maddie Richmond, Marinna Mercer all scored four, Haley Suffel banked three, and Baylee Hageman and Audrey Pirtle both put two on the board.

Wauseon scoring was headed by Natalie Koenig with 18, followed by Maddie Richer with 14, Sariah Yackee with eight, Hannah Blaylock put five on the board, Lexie Lane and Sally Frank both scored four points and Kylie Archibeque, Anna Marshall, and Halen Mealer finished with two points on the night.
