Len Mitchell (1934-2020)

Len E. Mitchell, 85, of Pioneer, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2020 at the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born on July 17, 1934 in Pulaski, OH to Blake A. and Vera (Campbell) Mitchell. Len graduated from Montpelier High School in 1952.

He honorably served his country in the United States Army. On December 24, 1959 he married Nanette Bassett in Montpelier and she survives.

Len retired from Aro Corp in Bryan after 30 years of service. He was a longtime member of the Columbia Church of Christ in Edon and the Machinist Union #1349.

Len is survived by his wife, Nanette Mitchell; two sons, David Mitchell of Cincinnati and Michael (Tammy) Mitchell of Pioneer; five grandchildren, Joseph Wiles, Greg Mitchell, Patrick Mitchell, Alexis Mitchell and Morgan Mitchell; and four great grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Patricia Ann Wiles.

A celebration of Len’s life will take place at a later date. He will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier. Donations may be given to Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Thompson Funeral Home.
