The meeting of the Lyons Village council came to order on April 5,2021. All council members were present. During the Lyons Village council meeting Tanya Lumbrezer, the village administrator proposed a motion for possession of a U.S Army Tacom Canon.
Mr. Greg Super suggested, that since the VFW was bought out, and could no longer care for the canon. Mr. Super offered it to the city, as a deed of gift.
The canon cannot be moved, or altered in anyway, but will be in the care of the village, and will remain at the Dunbar Ingall Park. The motion was accepted, and approved by all council members.
Also covered in the minutes were Stop Signs. Many are in need of repair, and are fading. The bids to replace the stops signs, ranged from $1500-$2000. The motion to move forward, and purchase the new signs was granted. All stops signs including the appropriate bars will be replaced.
Also covered in the minutes was the transformer at the park. Originally thought to be only a fuse, it was discovered by Cole & Davis that the entire transformer needed replaced. The entire cost will be 10,000, and will be installed before ball season starts.
The council also addressed putting in a bid for 16 tons of salt, and suggestions were made to bring it closer to town to be used as needed when salt trucks aren’t available.
Nothing was decided upon as far as location of the salt, but it’s defiantly being discussed, and should be resolved before winter is upon us again.
Also, there was good news from the ODNR grant to re-do the basketball courts. The council also address the Saw Mill Road issue. It was brought to the attention of the council that one side of road will have a section removed, and be refilled again at no cost to the city.
The next meeting of the Village council is scheduled for Wednesday May 5,2021.
