The Lyons Village Council met for its regular session on Monday, March 9, 2026. The meeting began at 7 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the regular business of the evening.
One of the larger updates discussed involved the village water tower project. Council heard that the village has reapplied for the WSRLA grant and is still waiting to finalize all funding before an official start date can be set.
At this point, the tentative completion date for the project is October 2027.
Council also received an update on property matters involving Kennedy and West streets. The survey work has been completed, and the village solicitor is now working on the paperwork needed to vacate the right-of-way. Even with that action moving forward, the village will retain an easement for utilities.
Later in the meeting, council voted to purchase a new handheld device for reading water meters from MGM Communications at a cost of $7,343.
Officials noted that another company had quoted a price of $20,000 for similar equipment, making the selected option a significant savings for the village.
Other discussions included the Fulton County Economic Development Corporation annual banquet, which will be held April 14 at Founders Hall in Archbold, with a head count still needed.
Council also briefly revisited the sewer issue involving Todd Keefer, with an update that [Rod’s full name] had spoken with him again.
Residents were also reminded that bulk pickup will be conducted door to door for village residents on May 16. Council noted as well that the March and April newsletter had been emailed on March 6, 2026.
Attention then turned to future development and community improvement matters. Council discussed a possible blighted housing property for the next round of Community Development Block Grant funding.
An update was also given on the sidewalk assessment project, which officials said is going well, with a tentative final presentation from TMACOG and University of Toledo students planned for April 30 from 2 to 4 p.m.
In other business, council noted that Wilbur Ellis has been sold. Water testing figures were also reviewed, with TTHMs reported at 73.3 ppb for the water tower and 68.1 ppb for the pump house, while officials said the averages remain very good.
Council later voted to accept the insurance renewal with Hylant Conrad Beck in the amount of $11,122 for 2026 and 2027. Members also voted to approve the village’s permanent appropriations.
The police report for February showed six complaints. Council also noted that the village trash contract is set to expire July 31, a matter that will likely need to be addressed in the coming months.
Before closing, council announced that its next meeting will be held on April 13, 2026, at 7 p.m. The meeting was adjourned at 8:18 p.m.
