The Madison Township Trustees met in a regular session on Monday, July 27. President Terry Huffman called the meeting to order with trustees Mark Schmucker and Jen Zuver present. Troy Carpenter, Madison Township/Kunkle Fire Chief Jason Marvin, and Tyler Bryner were also present.
Following the Pledge of Allegiance, trustees approved meeting minutes from the July 13 meeting and the payment of monthly bills.
Marvin discussed the possibility of purchasing water rescue suits for the department. He asked the trustees of their thoughts about it.
He said the department has several firefighters who are already trained in water rescue. The cost is approximately $800 per water rescue suit. The department would purchase the suits.
In other matters:
-Road work: Carpenter spoke with Ward Construction of Leipsic regarding the chip and seal work to be completed in the township. He added that the work will be done hopefully by the end of August.
-Vehicle upgrades: Carpenter also located a couple of trucks that are currently for sale. He is going to look at them this weekend. The trustees looked at the listing of both trucks and thought they would be worth looking at.
– Safety signs: Trustees were informed there are two “Children at Play” road signs that have been purchased and installed on County Road S.
-Cemetery maps: County Engineer Todd Roth informed the trustees he will be making a new map of the township cemeteries. It will be a larger map the township can enter the names as plots are sold.
-Fuel supply: The township will be receiving a new 300-gallon diesel fuel tank which will be delivered and hooked up by National Oil.
Next meeting will be on Monday, August 10, at 7 p.m.
