Marie A. Maddock, age 84, of Wauseon, peacefully passed away at Swanton Valley Care Center early Wednesday morning September 26, 2018. She was born in Toledo on March 7, 1934 to the late Carmelo and Stella Giaimo.
Marie was a 1953 graduate of Waite High School. She later married William G. Lichtenwald and he passed away in 2009. On April 17, 1982, Marie was united in marriage to Maurice “Moe” Maddock, who survives. She worked at several retail stores including Hudson’s, Walmart and Big Lots.
Marie was also honored as being the first female bus driver for the Pike Delta York School System. Her hobbies included dancing, playing cards, slot machines and making lasting memories with her family and friends.
Marie was also preceded in death by her daughter, Penny Lichtenwald; grandchildren, Jennifer R. Lichtenwald and William J. Lichtenwald; brothers, Tony, Sam and Andy Giaimo; and sisters, Rose Cipriani, Fran Vargo, Nancy Jacobs, Carmella Frobase and Annette Wieland.
Along with her husband, Maurice “Moe” Maddock, she is survived by her children, William (Janice) Lichtenwald of Delta; Mike (Barbara) Lichtenwald of Delta and Debra (Jim) Buettner of Toledo; step-children, Donna (Mark) Welz and Mary Lou (Rick) Miller; sister, Stella Beatty; and many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Friday, September 28, 2018 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta; where a funeral service for Marie will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday also at the funeral home. Pastor Susan St. Peter will be officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta.
