Marvin B. Crites, Sr., age 96, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away at 2:55 P.M. on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at the Laurels of Defiance following a lengthy illness.
Marvin was a life-long farmer and worked at Challenge-Cook Brothers for many years as a welder, foreman and in their shop.
He was a longtime member of Union Chapel Church of God and Ney Church of God and most recently attended Ney United Methodist Church.
Marvin had a sweet corn stand at the corner of US 6 and 127 for over 60 years. He enjoyed fishing and ice fishing.
Marvin was born on November 19, 1926, in Defiance County, Ohio, the son of Charles and Izona (Peterson) Crites.
He graduated from Ney High School in 1944. Marvin married Ruby M. Beer on December 20, 1947 in Defiance and she preceded him in death on June 7, 2015.
Marvin is survived by his son, Marvin (Marlene) Crites, Jr., of Ney; daughter, Kathy (Mick) Hall, of Defiance; 4 grandchildren, Nikki (Matt) Grine, of Bryan, Alissa (Nikki) Brown, of Defiance, Scott (Megan) Crites, of Spencerville, Indiana and Erica (Charles) Gray, of Harlan, Indiana; 10 great grandchildren, Braeden, Brett, Evan, Lilly, Brielle, Isaac, Emma, Logan, Liam and Caitrin and sister-in-law, Mary Jane Crites, of Ney.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife and brothers, Olin, John, Arthur and Lowell.
Visitation for Marvin will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 from 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. followed by a funeral service at 1:00 P.M. at Krill Funeral Service, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan with Pastor Briana Geiger officiating. Burial will follow at Evansport Cemetery.
