(Lifelong Wauseon Sports Fan & Standout Athlete)

Marvin V. “Marv” Stoll, 94, of Wauseon, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2026. He was born on Aug. 4, 1931, in Wauseon, Ohio, to the late Henry and Eva (Steinbrecher) Stoll.

Marvin grew up attending Emmaus Lutheran Church in Wauseon and was confirmed at the age of 13. In his most recent years, he attended Crossroads Evangelical Church.

He was a 1949 graduate of Wauseon High School, where he excelled as an athlete in several sports. During that time, he set a Wauseon High School football record for the longest interception return of 103 yards. He went on to be honored as an inductee to the Wauseon High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011 at the age of 80.

He loved Wauseon sports, often being found in the cheering section, and enjoyed attending his grandkids’ sporting events right up until he became ill.
Marvin attended college after high school. He took a break from college and served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years.

When he returned home, he finished his education, graduating from Bowling Green State University with a degree in accounting. Marvin retired in 1994 after a career in management and accounting at Koncor, a division of Timken Latrobe Steel, having worked there for 30 years.

He was also a loyal lifetime member of VFW Post 7424 and American Legion Post 265.
He was an avid golfer who played well into his 80s. He could often be found at Ironwood Golf Course and made several yearly trips with his friends to play on courses around the country. The game of golf brought him great joy and many wonderful friendships.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Connie (Hefflinger) Stoll; children, Brad (Carol) Stoll, Jacqueline Weishaar, and Janna (Matt) Mennetti; grandchildren, Katie (John Stoltz) Stoll, Kenneth Stoll, Kevin (Liz) Stoll, Eva Mennetti, and Collin Mennetti; and three great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Henry Stoll, William Stoll, Lydia Dow, Martha Vogel, Emma Heise, and Lucille Perry.

Memorial Service is 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, 2026, at Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home, 219 S. Fulton St., Wauseon, with visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the funeral home, followed by military honors. Private inurnment at a later date in Hoy Cemetery, Napoleon.
