The Village of Metamora has a new Chamber of Commerce that is working to help better the community.

The chamber itself was created back in June of 2021 but has since been working with local businesses and individuals to gain members which allows for the work to be done.

Since its inception, 25 members have signed up with the chamber ranging from local businesses to members of the community who want to help improve their town.

The goal for everyone involved according to Kimberly Smallman of the chamber, is to develop economic growth and to create a great work and living environment.

This can be done by helping to clean up the community and by working with storefronts to figure out their needs.

The hope in doing these things, is that both new businesses and customers will come to Metamora and see everything the community has to offer.

“We want to let people know that there are things here that they can use and that they do not have to go to other, further away places, for these services,” said Kimberly Smallman.

The chamber is currently looking at several different opportunities for people to get involved in the community.

One such event is the Party in the Park, which was formerly known as the Park-O-Rama. The tentative date for the event has been set for June 10th through the 12th, although this could change.

The event will be a fundraiser with donations being made to the park and the Evergreen Youth Association. Money will also be used for downtown revitalizations and the scholarship program.

The scholarship program being worked on by the chamber provides Evergreen seniors, that are going into a trade, a scholarship that will help them with the cost of their education and tools.

The hope is that, in the future after more money is raised, scholarships will be offered to more students.

Ideas for more community events are being looked at and the chamber will continue to work towards the betterment of the local community.
