The Metamora Village Council held their meeting on Monday, April 18th. The meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Council first moved to approve the list of bills as presented as well as the minutes from the previous meetings held on April 4th and April 11th.
In Personnel and Finance, it was stated that Deputy Clerk Debbie Lietzke was hired with council members knowing she needed the months of June, July, and August off.
Approval for Heather to work more than 32 hours a week during these months may need to be approved. It was also stated that changes are being made to the employee handbook and that the revisions should be ready by the next council meeting.
Moving on to the Lands and Building reports, maintenance employees will need to be updated regarding their hepatitis and tetanus shots.
Discussion then followed regarding park restrooms. With practices now taking place, the bathrooms will be unlocked in the morning hours and will be relocked at night. If there is a need for them to remain unlocked at night, the village will be notified.
Council was then informed that Jeff Pawlaczyk has spoken with Mikael Stiles regarding an EPA compliance report. Recently, the NPDES Permit limits were exceeded slightly. It was stated that Mr. Stiles has a solution to the problem and will look into it.
CT Consultants have been hired to do sewer testing and mapping in the village. There is a kickoff meeting to be hosted virtually in the village office on Monday, June 6th at 6:00p.m. It is opened to anyone who would like to attend.
A discussion then took place regarding the bridge on Garnsey Street. The bridge is in need of repairs and the village will have an engineer look into the matter for guidance. Robbie Anderzack will be contacted regarding possible engineers to hire.
In old business, an update was given regarding the park rental lease agreement. Items were discussed for the lease agreement with it being stated that there are still some updates possible. Council then moved to approve Ordinance 2022-09 by emergency measure.
The ordinance was in regard to allowing the fiscal officer to apply for the ODNR Grant and enter into contract for the purpose of accepting the grant funds, should the funds be awarded.
In new business, Matt Vaculik informed the village office that chicken prices are up. Council is still interest in holding the chicken BBQ with the date being tentatively set for Saturday, August 13th.
The hope is to have the BBQ in the park this year with the Memorial Day dedication. A search is also underway to possibly have a band play.
In the Fiscal Officers report, another member for the Zoning Appeals Board is still wanted. A down payment was made to Dave White Chevrolet for a new village work truck and some older books/ledgers from the 1920’s were found.
The Historical Society was contacted to see if they were interested in them. The mayor then presented council with the Sheriff’s report for March before the meeting was adjourned at 8:31 p.m.
