The Metamora Village Council held their meeting on Wednesday, February 22nd. The meeting began at 8:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance before council moved to approve the February 6th minutes and reading of the bills.

Council then moved to discuss issues regarding lands and buildings. During discussions council moved to buy rain gear for the maintenance employees.

The rules were also suspended for Ordinance 2023-04 giving authorization to the mayor or council president to conduct transactions with MS Consultants and/or the Ohio Department of Transportation relating to the SR 120 bridge replacement.

Following the suspending of the rules, council moved to approve the ordinance.

It was then stated that maintenance employees have started repairs recommended by CT Consultants for the sanitary sewer system.

They are currently getting quotes for manhole inserts as well as a total number needed.

Broken/missing clean out caps have been replaced on village resident’s property and Ag-Pro and John Deere are covering 100% of the cost for repairs for the gator.

Several arborvitae trees in the park are dead and a discussion took place regarding what to buy for their replacement.

The thought was to use either more arborvitae trees or larger pine trees. It was stated that there needs to be some form of wind block so that farm debris doesn’t go into the park.

Work will be done to look into how many are needed and what a cost will be. Discussion also took place regarding the adding of more fish into the reservoirs.

It was stated that it has been four to five years since fish have been added. A suggestion was made to hire a pond consultant for some guidance.

The deputy clerk then reported that an official signed agreement has been received from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for the Natureworks Grant.

The village will have until December 31st, 2024, to complete the project. President Karen Lane then went over the sheriff’s report before council moved to adjourn at 8:16 p.m.
