
The Metamora Village Council convened for its regular session on Monday, April 21, 2025, at 7:05 p.m. in Village Hall. Presiding over the meeting was Council President Gary Loar, joined by council members Karen Siefker, Rob Armstrong, Lee Ann Miller, Cindi Pawlaczyk, and John Pupos.
Also present were Village Fiscal Officer Heather Lumbrezer and Village Administrator and Zoning Inspector Jeff Pawlaczyk. Mayor Cathy Mossing and Maintenance Supervisor Anthony Jagodzinski were absent.
Following the Pledge of Allegiance, the council approved the minutes from the April 7 meeting.
Fiscal and Administrative Updates
Village Fiscal Officer Lumbrezer reported receiving a complaint regarding open burning within village limits. The matter was forwarded to Fire Chief Geer for review and potential action.
Council unanimously approved the payment of bills as read.
Legislative Action
In legislative matters, council passed the third reading of Resolution #2025-09, which seeks to place a 0.5 mill replacement levy on the ballot for the November 4, 2025, election. The resolution was approved by roll call vote.
Additionally, council approved moving forward with a grant application through the Housing Technical Assistance Program. The funds, if awarded, would support updates to the village’s Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Ordinances.
Council members Pupos and Miller, along with Tree Commission Chairman Rick Meiring, conducted an onsite review of the village park to determine optimal placement for new trees. They identified several maple trees in need of removal, which will be handled by the village maintenance team.
In a seasonal move, new fish are scheduled to be picked up on April 22 to restock the village reservoirs.
Council also voted to order the minimum 22 tons of salt for the 2025–2026 winter season through ODOT’s purchasing program and approved obtaining quotes for upcoming road repair projects.
In other business, the council agreed to return recently purchased tennis equipment to Amazon.
Zoning Report
Village Administrator Jeff Pawlaczyk provided a zoning update, noting three recent sewer repairs at 217 Garnsey, 312 Harvest, and 515 Swanton. Letters have been issued to property owners who installed fences without proper permits, and one homeowner has since contacted the administrator to apply for a variance.
