The Metamora Village Council held its regular session on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. Council members Cindi Pawlaczyk, John Pupos, Rob Armstrong, LeeAnn Miller, and Karen Siefker were present. Council President Gary Loar was absent.

Also attending were Mayor Cathy Mossing, Deputy Clerk Debbie Lietzke, and Village Administrator and Zoning Inspector Jeff Pawlaczyk.

Mayor Mossing opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by approval of the April 21 minutes on a motion by Armstrong and seconded by Miller.

Jeff Truckor of the Chamber of Commerce attended to submit paperwork for the upcoming Party in the Park, and a representative from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office delivered the April activity report.

In her mayor’s report, Mossing said most paperwork from the Chamber had been submitted for leasing the park from June 13 to 15 for Party in the Park.

The village is still awaiting the F permit, event insurance, and deposit checks. Maintenance crews will need to repair sharp edges on the ticket booth, and radar signs will be temporarily placed near village entrance signs to test visibility before permanent installation.

New flowerpots are expected to be placed next week. The Metamora Fire Department has volunteered to help with watering on the first Monday of each month, using village equipment. Mossing, Heather Lumbrezer, Lietzke, and Miller will assist with watering on other days.

A reminder will be given to maintenance staff that branch pickup is scheduled for Mondays unless an emergency or weather interferes.

A small washout on Garnsey Street from a previous sewer dig will be repaired with additional dirt. Mossing was granted approval to attend a mayor’s conference in Columbus on June 11 and 12, with council authorizing the $250 registration fee and $159 lodging cost.

Council also approved a motion by Pupos to finalize the lease agreement for Party in the Park once all outstanding documents and payments are received.

Deputy Clerk Lietzke reported that the village received its seasonal concession stand food permit. Lumbrezer applied for a zoning and comprehensive plan grant on April 22.

Council approved payment of bills following a motion by Armstrong, seconded by Siefker.

In old business, council agreed to postpone road repairs to Swanton Street until after ODOT completes a nearby bridge project.

Pupos made a motion to hire GT Contracting for $5,600 to crack seal Church Street, Meadow Street, and the walking path in the park. The motion was seconded by Cindi Pawlaczyk and approved.

A quote is still pending from Jim Bernath for spray patching, with priority areas including County Road U, County Road 2, and Church Street.

Under new business, council passed Resolution #2025-10 under emergency measures to participate in the ODOT road salt contracts for 2025. The motion, made by Pupos and seconded by Siefker, passed with a unanimous roll call vote.

Preparations for the village’s annual chicken dinner fundraiser during Party in the Park are underway. Mossing is comparing prices for food and supplies.

The plan is to prepare 700 chicken halves, including 400 full dinners and 300 carry-outs. Siefker’s motion to charge $15 per dinner and $10 per half chicken was approved, with Miller casting the only dissenting vote.

A Memorial Dedication Ceremony will take place during Party in the Park on Sunday, June 15. Honorees include Harriet Woodring-Loar and Thomas Langenderfer, with Mike Anderzack and Greg Geer to be added to the village’s Wall of Fame.

Council voted to participate in RITA’s non-filer/subpoena program and approved Lumbrezer’s attendance at RITA’s annual meeting on Friday, June 20, in Napoleon.

In the zoning report, applications were received for properties at 1195 Wildflower Drive and 16372 State Route 64. The property at 252 Maple has not responded after a zoning permit was denied and a variance was requested.

Water levels continue to be monitored at the east lift station. A letter will be sent to 423 East Main Street regarding a potential zoning permit requirement.

The meeting adjourned at 8:09 p.m. on a motion by Pupos, seconded by Cindi Pawlaczyk. The next regular meeting will be held on May 19th at 7:00 p.m.
