COVID-19 continues to run, shutting down one event after another, with the Easter egg Hunt being the newest holiday event to be cut in Metamora, Ohio.
At the Monday evening, February 1, 2021 Village Council meeting it was discussed and decided that it would be better not to plan on the Easter event this year, as they had to cancel in 2020 and it looks pretty much the same, covid wise.
Council also discussed, with some disgust and frustration, some damage that was done to the fence and gate at the reservoir.
Pictures were passed around of the damage and council was told that a Police Report was filed when the damage was discovered. They are unsure who did it, but it looks like someone on a four wheeler or some vehicle slammed into a few sections.
It was reiterated that no one is supposed to be using that area for recreational vehicles and discussion included whether or not they should file for insurance coverage.
A cost estimate will be gotten for repairs and it was mentioned that maybe they should lock the gate and people who want to fish in the warmer months would just need to walk around it.
There is not supposed to be any ice fishing there, so locking the gate would just keep any further damage from being done by vehicles.
In regular business, council voted to approve the January 20, 2021 Meeting minutes with some corrections and the reading of the bills. They were informed that the new gator they are purchasing should arrive during the week.
Village Clerk Sue Clendenin shared a letter from the Fulton County Commissioners inviting any of them to attend any Commissioners sessions if they would like as well as offering to drop in on a Village Council to answer questions any time the council desires.
Council voted to approve a Mosquito Spray Contract renewal with Fresh Cut Lawn Service. Solicitor Alan Lehenbauer was asked to draw up an agreement that the mayor can sign for a Refuse Agreement.
Sheriff Deputy Hensley reported that there were eleven calls for service between November 16 and February 1, 2021.
