The Metamora Village Council held their meeting on Monday, January 6th. The meeting began at 7:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Council then moved to approve the board minutes from the previous meeting held on December 30th, before hearing from Sheriff Deputy Marvin for the sheriff’s report.
The mayor’s report took place next, with council members going over sheriff’s report data for the months of October and November.
It was then stated that the new radar speed limit signs have arrived and will be installed sometime in the Spring when the weather warms up.
Next, Mayor Mossing stated she will be working on documents given to the village by Maumee Valley Planning, for the establishing of a central business district.
This is needed for a grant Jeff Truckor is applying for to update/repair three of his downtown buildings. The grant application requires a survey of the downtown building conditions, average age of the buildings, and more.
It was also stated that the village zoning ordinances are not enough and that there will have to be a special resolution for this that will be ready by the next meeting.
Council then moved to pay the bills before moving on to new business. During this time, a vote for the new Village Council President was conducted. Following a tie vote, Gary Loar was appointed to the position after Mayor Mossing broke the tie.
The village recently switched over to a Marathon Fleet Card for all gas purchases. The card is receiving a $10.00 monthly fee, which has resulted in a motion being put forward, and approved, to cancel the card and go back to using the Sams Credit Card for gas purchases.
Next, it was stated that there is a meeting coming up on January 15th with ODOT regarding the replacement of the bridge on State Route 120.
A motion was also put forward to pay Bailey Lumbrezer $50.00 to clean the village office. Lastly, it was stated that Seargent Marvin from the sheriff’s office is new to the current shift and is trying to get back into the routine of attending council meetings when possible.
During this meeting, Sgt. Marvin reviewed last year’s police reports. He also informed council that, when the new speed signs are installed, they will give the department a “peak speeding time”.
Sgt. Marvin explained that they will try to be in the village at those times once the information is obtained.
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 21st. Committee meetings will begin at 6:00 p.m. and the council meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. With nothing left to attend to, the meeting was adjourned at 8:01 p.m.
