August 25th-MONTPELIER: The Locomotives and Cadets met on the Cross Country course, Superior Athletic Complex, to be exact. In the boys competition, the Locos won in convincing fashion, taking the top six places in the race. It should be noted, however, that Montpelier greatly outnumbered Hilltop at the event. The Lady Cadets fared much better, though, owning four of the top five places, including first.
For the Montpelier boys, Jared Rediger brought home first place honors, finishing the race at 18:58. Michael Blake, also representing the Locomotives, came in second with a time of 19:46. Less than thirty seconds distinguished third place from sixth, as Alec Waterston’s 21:16 was just enough to put him in the top three.
The Cadets claimed both seventh and eighth place at the event. Ben Routhier led the way for Hilltop, turning in a 22:53. Rylee McCain was next to finish the race at 23:21.
In the girls’ race, Hilltop’s Maddie Routhier was first to finish with her time of 22:10. Third place was earned by Lady Cadet Landry Brown at 25:43. Bailey Funkhouser finish in fourth with a time of 25:55.
Jaqueline Carlson was the sole Lady Loco to report a top five finish at 23:30. Jessica Earle was the next Montpelier Girl to complete the race, taking sixth place at 31:03.
