Montpelier Fails To Respond To Powerful Bulldog Offense

February 15, 2015Updated:December 31, 2020No Comments1 Min Read

(February 13th, 2015) – MONTPELIER: The Locomotives welcomed cross-county opponent Swanton Bulldogs on Friday night, looking for an opportunity to upset the #1 team in the NWOAL.

The Locomotives lost steam early in the first quarter, being out-scored by the Bulldogs 17-6. Things were looking even more bleak at halftime with Swanton up 40-22. While the tantalizing Bulldogs couldn’t keep the Locos’ spirits down, the visitors’ raw talent kept the home team from making any forceful impact. Although Montpelier scored 1 point shy of Swanton in the second half, the Bulldogs would head home with another league victory 66-47.

The game’s lead scoring players for the Locomotives were freshman Kolden Uribes and Junior Dalton Surbey, both recording 12 points. Teammates Jacob Leung and Jared Lyons also contributed 8 and 5 points, respectively. Swanton’s Bryce McComb would dominate offensively throughout the night, racking up 29 points alone.

Both Uribes and Surbey were steady at the free-throw line, sinking 5 and 6 shots apiece. Montpelier’s latest loss puts them at 0-6 in the NWOAL and 3-14 overall. Their final opportunity to add a win in the NWOAL will be at Wauseon next Friday the 27th.
