(April 9th, 2015) – BRYAN: Suffering their first loss in North Western Ohio Athletic League (NWOAL) play, the Lady Locomotives fell to rival school Bryan in the first meeting between the two teams this season. With just a pair of hits on the game, Montpelier couldn’t keep pace with the Golden Bears.
The Locos took the road loss to Bryan, 7-0.
The 2 hits came from the bats of Haley Suffel and Caitlyn Nixon. Each Loco girl hit for a single in a though offensive performance from the Montpelier ball club. The entire team struggled to swing their bats, with 9 girls striking out in the contest.
Senior pitcher Breanna Stein took the loss for Montpelier, bringing her overall record to 2-1 on the year. Stein lasted six innings, giving up 14 hits along the way. She also struck out 2 batters, walking none.
The loss brings Montpelier’s record down to 2-3 for the season. They carry a 1-1 mark in NWOAL play.
