Those from Montpelier and the surrounding areas may know that the son of Daniel and Andrea Roerig, Zachary George Roerig, has made a name for himself in the acting community.
Having already experienced some major roles (Casey Hughes in As the World Turns, Hunter Atwood in One Life to Live, Sarge Will Mosley in Dare Me, and Matt Donovan in The Vampire Diaries), it’s no surprise that the household name that is the Hallmark Channel has chosen to feature Zach as the co-star of their new film: Love in the Great Smoky Mountains: A National Park Romance.
Zach was born in Montpelier in 1985, wrestling and playing football while attending Montpelier High School.
While originally a Midwesterner, Zach now identifies as coastal, considering New York his home.
This German, Polish, English, and Irish descendant used to work with his father and grandfather right in town at Fackler Monument, taking part in the family tradition of making gravestones before he moved on to the Barbizon Modeling and Acting School in Cleveland.
Shortly after graduation, he moved to New York to make a name for himself, participating in the International Modeling and Talent Association.
In 2011, he became a father, gaining primary custody in 2013, which must have been trying in the middle of his first main role as Matt Donovan in The Vampire Diaries, which spanned from 2009 to 2017.
His new role in Love in the Great Smoky Mountains: A National Park Romance is huge, and as co-star, a lot of the story is going to revolve around whether Zach’s character, Rob, can win back his ex-girlfriend, Haley (played by co-star Arielle Kebbel), when they are reunited at an archeological excavation site along the Great Smoky Mountains.
Will Rob be able to win Haley over despite her resentment towards him? Why is Haley so determined to keep their relationship professional?
Watch Zach Roerig star as Rob in Hallmark Channel’s new hit: Love in the Great Smoky Mountains: A National Park Romance to see how “love is more valuable than any research grant.”
