Montpelier School students celebrated this year’s Homecoming with a ceremony before the football game versus Ridgemont. Celebrations began shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 21st on the football field. During this time the 2024 Homecoming Court was presented.
This year’s freshman attendant was Miss Rowan Brown, daughter of Stacey and Ryan Brown. Rowan was escorted by Jacob Lyons, son of Trisha and Mike Lyons, and Ryan Riggenbach, son of Amy and Troy Riggenbach. Rowan has one brother, senior Ryder Brown, and two cocker spaniels.
Rowan attends New Hope Community Church in Bryan. In school, Rowan participates in volleyball, basketball, and softball.
Outside of school, Rowan enjoys hanging out with friends, shopping, and camping. After she graduates from high school, Rowan plans to attend college and pursue a career in pediatric nursing.
The sophomore attendant for this year was Miss Olivia Thompson. Olivia is the daughter of Tashia and Nate Thompson. Her escorts were Wesley Hartsock, son of Amanda Decker and Mitch Hartsock, and Malachi Smith, son of Darbi Clark and Nate Smith. Olivia has an older sister, Addison, who attends Kent State University, and an older brother, Avery, who is a senior at MHS.
Olivia is an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Montpelier. She enjoys helping out with their vacation bible school in the summers. In school, Olivia participates in volleyball at MHS and club volleyball at Team Pineapple in Angola. She is also in yearbook, student council, and a bleacher creature leader at Montpelier.
Outside of school, Olivia spends her time hanging out with friends, taking naps, watching Netflix, shopping, playing volleyball, and working as a lifeguard at the pool over the summer. In the future, Olivia would like to go to college to earn a degree in diagnostic medical sonography to become an ultrasound technician.
Miss Bria Friend, daughter of Stephanie and Todd Friend, represented the junior class this year. Her escorts were Griffin Cooley, son of Bess and Brian Cooley, and Hayden Sharps, son of Angela Greek and Dave Sharps. She has an older brother, Brennen, who attends Bowling Green State University, as well as a dog named Penny, a guinea pig named Gilligan, and two cats, Sammy and Nugget.
Bria attends New Hope Community Church in Bryan, Ohio. In school, Bria participates in volleyball, track, musical, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is also the President of the junior class and the vice president of the student council.
Outside of school, Bria enjoys reading, watching television, and hanging out with friends and family. In the future, Bria would like to attend Bowling Green State University to major in business.
The first senior queen candidate was Miss Aleigha Hillard. She is the daughter of Shawna and Ron Hillard. Aleigha is escorted by Avery Thompson, son of Tashia and Nate Thompson, and Kamron Smith, son of Darbi Clark and Nate Smith. Aleigha has two sisters, a half-brother, two dogs, and one cat.
She attends Life Changing Church in Edgerton. In school, Aleigha participates in volleyball, basketball, and track. She also serves as student council president, National Honor Society secretary, and president of the senior class.
She is also involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is a bleacher creature leader. Outside of school, Aleigha enjoys reading books and spending quality time with friends. In the future, Aleigha would like to attend The Ohio State University and major in integrated language arts.
Miss Madelyn Hopper was the second senior queen candidate. Madelyn is the daughter of Carolyn and Bryan Hopper. Her escorts were Greyson Saneholtz, son of Joy and Brent Saneholtz, and Dylan Koch, son of Emily Hunter and Dave Birdsall. Madelyn has three younger siblings.
Madelyn attends Solid Rock Community Church in West Unity. In school, Madelyn is involved in golf, basketball, softball, band, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Outside of school, Madelyn enjoys reading and hanging out with friends. In the future, Madelyn plans to study education.
The final senior queen candidate was Miss Jada Uribes, daughter of Nikki and Aaron Uribes. Jada is being escorted by Joel Saneholtz, son of Alysha and Matt Sloan and the late Jason Saneholtz, and Gary Robinson, grandson of Cathy and Kevin Mudrack.
Jada has three siblings, Haley Gonzales, Kolden and Zoe Uribes. She also has a dog named Izzy. In school, Jada plays volleyball, basketball, and softball. She was in Locomotion for three years and is a part of the musicals.
Jada is a member of National Honor Society and serves as secretary of student council, conductor of the house of Wabash, and secretary of the senior class.
Outside of school, Jada enjoys reading, doing puzzles, scrap journaling, taking her dog on walks, and going on bike rides with her sister Zoe and her mom. In the future, Jada plans to attend Bowling Green State University to major in elementary and special education.
Last year’s homecoming queen was Miss Jacee Altaffer. Jacee is the daughter of Jill and Todd Altaffer. Jacee’s escorts were Jaxon Stahler, son of Wendy Porath and Jason Stahler and Logan Pontious, son of Rose Pontious and James Pontious.
Jacee works at Hillside Nursing Home as an activity assistant. She attends Life Changing Church in Edgerton. In her free time, Jacee enjoys spending time with her friends, reading books, and going on runs.
That afternoon, Miss Altaffer had the honor of crowning the 2024 Montpelier High School Homecoming Queen, Miss Aleigha Hillard. Congratulations to Queen Aleigha and all of the candidates and attendants.
