LIBERTY CENTER: February 6 – The Lady Tigers of Liberty Center played host to the Montpelier Lady Locomotives in a February 6 NWOAL tilt.

Montpelier shootist Hannah Blake rattled off 14 points and was the focus of the Liberty Center defense, but the hometown girls had no answer for Baylee Hageman. The Montpelier paint patroller hit on 11 of 13 shots from the interior, and canned a game-high 26 points to lead Montpelier to a 56-44 road victory.

The Lady Tigers mounted a late charge, but they were already trailing plenty, thanks to 18-7 and 13-4 runs in the first and second periods to put the game out of reach. Going into the half, Montpelier was up 20, and the second half was far too short on time for the Tigers’ rally to succeed.

Malorie Yagelski put down 5 points, with Bre Stein getting 4, Audrey Pirtle 3, and Marinna Mercer and Maddie Richmond each scoring 2.

SCORING BY QUARTER:

Montpelier 16 13 10 15 – 56

Liberty Center 7 4 12 21 – 44
