Montpelier Locomotives Stop Hilltop Cadets 13-4 On The Road

WEST UNITY: April 9– The Montpelier Locomotives hit the road to neighboring Hilltop for a final tune up before starting NWOAL action on April 9, taking down the Cadets 13-4. The Locos broke the game wide open in the 4th inning outscoring the Cadets 9-2 in the final 4 innings to secure the victory.

Josh Lewellen was credited with the win, pitching 3 and 2/3 innings, allowing 4 hit and 4 runs, while striking out 8 Cadets. Parker Houk went the remaining 3 and 1/3, shutting down Hilltop at the plate, allowing no hits and set down 5 Cadets for the save. Offensively for the Locomotives, Cody Caudill, Keegan Hitzeman and Jared Sargent each connected for 2 hits, with Sargent leading the way with 3 RBI’s. Bryce Cooley and Luke Malone also reached base from the plate. The Locos played errorless ball, committing none in the game, while the Cadets committed 6.

For Hilltop, Miklo Abner absorbed the loss, going 3 and 1/3, allowing 6 runs off of 4 hits, while Justin Grapengeter also saw 2 and 1/3 innings work, giving up 2 runs. Jalen Towers made an appearance, going 1 and 1/3. allowing 5 runs off of 4 hits. Offensively, Abner pounded out a double in the game, while Grapengeter and Brad Champion also connected for a single in the loss.
