The Montpelier Park Board met on May 1, 2024 at 7 p.m. After the approval of the last meeting’s minutes and the financial statements as presented, it was shared that the pool should be opening the week of June 4th, largely in part to dry times.
A motion was then made approving funds for umpire fees, and Nick Ramos shared that the pool has been drained and cleaned, with all loose concrete being patched along the gutter.
A skim coat and sealer still are needed on the pool walls, with the end result expected to be pretty nice.
The pool house has been power washed and is ready for painting, and chlorine tablets and water testers have been received.
A couple of toilets have been repaired, and the grounds have been properly maintained in preparation for spring, with mowing, weed whacking, pesticide / herbicide spraying, and trash clean up occurring regularly.
The splash pad is expected to open smoothly, with it being shared that its condition is still like new. Recreation Director Sandra Gordon shared that order forms were put in for shirts for village employees, and the program guides have been completed with 740 passports that will go to the local schools.
Three hundred word rocks have been replaced in the Poetry Garden, the park plants have been maintained, stock for the concession stand has been ordered, a master ball schedule is being compiled, and it was shared that the Wi-Fi at the concession stand for the phone was unable to be repaired.
A new gas meter was put on the recreation office, and the water heater was then replaced. Planting and habitat restoration ideas are being made up for the Iron Horse River Trail, with it being shared that no projects can begin until the construction is completed.
A soft opening was planned for the concession stand on May 2nd, and district track meets are the 16th and 18th of May, with Registration Blitz on the 17th.
Gordon shared that the grounds will see a busy month, with April having six pavilion reservations, and that order paperwork for the Wabash Cannon Trail and the Iron Horse River Trail are being completed.
The rain has been holding up the construction on the Iron Horse River Trail, with the helical piers needing to be installed along the wetland because the trail is being engineered for emergency vehicle traffic.
With nothing further to address, the Montpelier Park Board voted to adjourn the meeting at 7:22 p.m.
