On June 1st, 2021 at approximately 11:18pm, the Montpelier Police Department engaged in a traffic stop on a white Pontiac Grand Prix near S. Platt at Washington St. The driver of the car failed to stop for the officer, fleeing at a high rate of speed and running several stop signs in town.

The suspect fled from the Montpelier limits into Williams County, continuing his reckless operation and then back into town. The suspect then abandoned the vehicle near Randolph and Monroe St. before fleeing on foot. The Williams County Sheriff’s Office deployed their K9 in assistance for tracking.

Through investigation and assistance from the public, the suspect was identified as 20 year-old Tristan McDaniel.

He was later located and charged with felony Failure to Comply with a Lawful Order/Signal of Police Officer and was taken to CCNO. He will be referred to the Williams County Prosecutor’s Office for further charges.

The Montpelier Police Department would like to thank the Williams County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance.
