Two members of Montpelier Chapter 270, Women of the Moose, received their Academy of Friendship Degrees during state conferral ceremonies Sunday, Feb. 18th.
Shown are Heather Johnson, Senior Regent, left, and Karen Chandler, Junior Past Regent, right, new degree recipients who attended the conferral during the Ohio State Moose Association Mid-Year Convention held Feb. 15-18 at the Holiday Inn at Independence, near Cleveland.
Sue Grooms, Past International Higher Degree Board Member, from Miamisburg, conducted the A/F conferral.
The Academy of Friendship is the first degree in the Women of the Moose program and is attained by meeting certain requirements while serving as a chapter officer or committee chairman or by sponsoring five members within the chapter year.
Degree honors also depend on the chapter earning the Award of Achievement for the year. Heather and Karen will be honored at Montpelier’s Academy of Friendship Committee chapter meeting in June.
Serving as this year’s convention official visitor was John Sipes, Chairman of Moose International Board of Directors, from Galion. OSMA State President Mike Supinger presided over the convention meetings.
Bill Hesselschwardt of Defiance is currently serving on the OSMA Executive Board as State Chaplain. Also attending the convention from Montpelier Lodge 312 were Vice President Joe Beebe, Pilgrims Jim Heller and Jim Witker, Brad Johnson, Past President Rich Stoy & Terri, and Tony & Chris Tressler.
