The new Archbold Water tower that has been under construction will soon have a new design that shows off village pride.

The new 200,000-gallon, elevated water storage tower is expected to be complete this Summer and will provide residents with an increase in pressure and efficiency compared to the older tower.

Work to begin the project began back in September of 2018 with a preliminary study being conducted. Everything has continued since then, although slowed for some time due to COVID.

Now, the tower is up, and construction is continuing with plumbing work still needing to be done along with the painting and priming.

The new tower design will feature the Archbold name in blue twice, along with two Blue A’s with a lightning bolt through it to represent the Bluestreaks.

The word and letter will alternate and be directly across from one another on the tower. Archbold’s Mayor explained that it was important for the tower to represent the school.

“I think it is key. It is who we are as a community. I think if you travel around, you see a lot of water towers that use the school logos. Instead of just putting the name up, putting the logo up too gives support to the school. It is a lot of pride!” said Mayor Brad Grime.

The new tower, when finished, will be up and running around the same time that a $9 million renovation at the water treatment plant will be finished.
