A new Dollar General Market store will be opening soon in the town of Lyons. Construction efforts began on April 18th with the demolition of Anderson’s grain elevator in town.
This elevator had been located inside Lyons for a long time, and its demolition forever changed the village skyline. For a time, it was odd driving towards the village, and having the elevator be nowhere in sight.
Even so, the addition of a Dollar General, especially their newer market variant, has been welcomed by most of the community. This store will be just like the new Delta store, albeit with some slight changes.
According to Andrew Zanath from 3DEE Construction LLC, the store will be the same size as Delta’s, at 12,000 square feet.
The slight difference revolves around the width and length of the two buildings, with Delta’s store being longer than it is wide, and Lyons store being wider than it is long.
As for the construction’s timeline, Zanath stated the frames and drywall are going up currently, and that some other efforts, including the parking lot, will be put in next week.
Fixtures are expected to be installed during the week of August 18th, which means the store may open for business sometime around the 27th of August.
The store is expected to offer village residents the normal Dollar General merchandise, along with fresh produce and meats.
