Many job seekers have been able to find a new position through the help of OhioMeansJobs, and now it has become even easier to find one.
Not only is this good for those looking for a new line of work, but it is great for the companies out there who need workers.
Workforce Development Coordinator for OhioMeansJobs in Bryan, Ohio, Sunshine Faunce, is very excited about the brand new Kiosk, or as she calls it, “the giant touch screen tablet,” which is sitting in the Atrium of the Williams County Community Offices building. Located at 1425 High St., Suite 107, OhioMeansJobs is one of many County Help organizations.
The Kiosk is up and running, ready for anyone to use. Quite a few people have been seen just standing there reading about the available jobs as they scroll past, but Faunce has put a sign their indicating that if they touch the screen they will be able to find out much more. It is great for anyone who is vision impaired, may have arthritis or doesn’t know how to use a mouse, as it is more user friendly.
The Kiosk is cleaned daily by the cleaning crew, but no specific hand sanitizing supplies are kept there as it could damage the screen. Faunce recommends that during the pandemic, everyone who uses it, just step into the bathroom and wash your hands when finished.
OhioMeansJobs Center is also happy to announce that they are re-opening, on a limited basis and with a limited staff, but they are open. In a letter sent out to prospective employers in the county, Faunce explained, “We are taking measures to keep everyone safe, but at the same time helping job seekers and employers connect.
Please plan to use the latest device I was able to purchase for our center. The device is a giant tablet, touch-screen and all. When not being used by jobseekers, the device goes to “sleep.”
“This is where we are now advertising job opportunities for all Williams County employers instead of taping them to our center windows. We will continue posting positions on our job board within our center as well as on our Facebook page (OhioMeansJobs Williams County or @OMJWilliams).”
Faunce encourages all companies, who are trying to fill positions, to take advantage of this new feature at the OMJ. She says to please Design your advertisement and email it to her. She will “dress up the ad with pictures and get your add onto the Kiosk” where job seekers can see it.
Also, “Don’t forget to go to OhioMeansJobs.com and post your positions! This is a free service that not only allows your company the freedom to post, update, and expire job postings but to also search resumes that job seekers have made public on the site. If you need help with this, please reach out to me at 419-633-5258.”
