STRYKER: May 12- The North Central Lady Eagles hit the road to open Sectional play on May 12, traveling to Stryker to take on the host Lady Panthers. North Central came up big with a stellar team performance, prevailing 7-1 to move to round 2 on May 15.
Makayla Hayes went the distance in the victory for North Central, throwing the full 7 innings and giving up just 6 hits on the afternoon. Hayes also struck out 4 Lady Panthers and allowed only 1 run. Hayes once again came up big when the Lady Eagles needed her on the mound and Hayes performed brilliantly.
Offensively for the Lady Eagles, Hayes again led the way, connecting for 3 singles in the win and driving in 2 RBI’s on the game. Reese Cogswell also had a good day at the plate, powering out a hit to drive in 2 RBI’s; Rachael Oxender and Kelsie Sutton also had RBI’s in the big win for North Central.
For the Lady Panthers, Conner Varner took the loss, giving up 7 hits and 4 earned runs on the day. Varner also recorded 4 strikeouts while allowing 2 base on balls.
Offensively for Stryker, Varner chipped in a double in the game while Conner Sullivan had a 2 hit day, with a single and a double. Megan Pegorch and Sam Walters, along with Emily Cadwell also hit for base trips on the day in the loss.
North Central will travel to West Unity on May 15 to take on the BBC Champion Hilltop Lady Cadets.
