SWANTON (April 20, 2026) – In a tightly played, low-scoring battle, timely hitting and dominant pitching powered Swanton to a 3-1 victory over Archbold in league action on Monday.
While several Bulldogs contributed at the plate, it was Beyla Remer who set the tone throughout the evening. The Swanton ace was in complete command in the circle, allowing just one run on five hits while going the distance in a seven-inning gem.
Both teams came out sharp defensively, and for the first two innings, neither lineup could break through as the pitchers controlled the tempo early.
Archbold threatened first in the top of the third when Charlee Forward led off with a double, but the opportunity quickly slipped away. Back-to-back flyouts stalled the rally, and Forward was later caught trying to advance, ending the inning.
Swanton responded immediately in the bottom half, and in emphatic fashion. Jordyn Ramirez stepped to the plate and launched a solo home run to left field, giving the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead and injecting life into the offense.
The Bulldogs added on in the fourth. Kendall Glonek reached with a one-out single and aggressively stole second. Moments later, Carli LaGrange delivered a clutch double to bring Glonek home, extending the lead to 2-0.
After holding Archbold scoreless again in the fifth, Swanton continued to apply pressure in the sixth. With runners on base, Alexa Faber came through with an RBI single to left, scoring Remer and pushing the advantage to 3-0.
Archbold showed signs of life in the sixth inning. Madi Bowers sparked the offense with a leadoff double, and after advancing to third on a groundout, Makena Thiel drove her in with a single to center, trimming the deficit to 3-1.
That would be as close as the Bluestreaks would get.
With the game on the line in the seventh, Remer closed the door in dominant fashion, retiring the side and finishing the game with a strikeout to seal the victory for Swanton.
