DEFIANCE – The Defiance Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a fatal motorcycle crash. The crash occurred on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at approximately 7:34 PM.
Michael S Gonzales, age 47, of Hicksville, Ohio was operating a black 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on Power Dam Road west of Harding Road.
Mr. Gonzales failed to negotiate a curve, exited the right side of the roadway striking a guardrail. Mr. Gonzales was not wearing a helmet and succumbed to his injuries.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by Defiance Fire and Rescue, Deputies from the Defiance County Sheriff’s office, Defiance County Coroner’s office and John’s Towing.
The roadway was closed for approximately two and a half hours. The crash remains under investigation.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol reminds motorists to wear a helmet when operating a motorcycle, wear seatbelts, never drive distracted and always designate a sober driver if alcohol is consumed.
